On a camping trip for the village of the leaf and sand's best fighters, after they all went to sleep, Kasumi, a new chuunin, thinking she was the only one awake, snuck out. She wandered through the tree and came to her favorite moonlit spot by the lake, to find Gaara sitting there. 'Of course. He can't sleep, correct?' she thinks. She didn't know much about Gaara, only that he was lonely as a kid and a couple other facts. She came and sat by him. He was deep in though, not noticing her. She cleared her throat, and he jumped, his mind back to earth. He looked over at her and said, "Could you not sleep?".
"No, it's just that I usually come here at night." she replied, then yawned.
"I found this place last night." Gaara said. He heard a thump, and looked over at Kasumi. She had fallen asleep. He pulled her closer to him, leaning her against his side. Her head settled in the crook of his neck. A tingle went up his spine, then a warm feeling went over him. 'This is strange. Does she make me feel like this?' He wondered, and gently shook her awake.
"I feel warm. What are you doing to me?"
"What am I doing? I dunno." She replied.
"My face feels hot." He said. She got a good look at him in the moonlight, and realized he was blushing. She smiled and hugged him. Of course he didn't know what it felt like to have a crush on someone. He stiffened.
"This is a hug. Can I hug you?"
"I guess so." he replied.
"You can hug me back, then." she said, then blushed at her own boldness. But then she felt his arms curl around her. They sat there in the moonlight for a few minutes. She fell asleep again. Looking down at her, he felt her warm breath on his face. He then remembered something that his uncle sometimes did. He reached down and kissed her on the cheek. She woke up instantly. When she saw his face so close to her, she blushed. Gaara thought that she was repulsed and pulled his head away.
"No, no, it's ok. You just startled me for a second." She said, reassuring him.
They looked at each other for a second, then she reached her head up and kissed him. He stiffened, but then relaxed. He slowly leaned into the kiss. But then a crashing noise came through the bushes. It was Kankuro.
"Yo, bro, you o-" He  stared, wide eyed. He looked up and scowled. Kasumi giggled. 'He manages to look cute even when he's ticked.' she thought, then gasped as Kankuro was wrapped in sand.
"Gaara! What-" she exclaimed, but was cut off.
"He's fine. He just won't be bothering us anymore."

In the morning, when the other ninja find them, they aw or giggle. Why? They are wrapped in each others arms, sleeping soundly.
